Indian Dancers, Poetry & an Orchestra Celebrate Creativity

If you've ever been lucky enough to catch sight of a hummingbird in your backyard, you know that they never stop moving for very long. Acclaimed choreographer Jayanthi Raman captures that spirit with her latest work, "Dance of the Hummingbirds", which fills the stage with artists for a boistrous, nonstop tribute to the creative process. This performance at Portland's Winningstad Theatre features an original score performed by a live orchestra, traditional Indian dancers choreographed by Raman, and even a reading of a newly commissioned work of poetry by Oregon poet laureate Paulann Petersen. Like the creative process, hummingbirds never stop moving -- and neither do the diverse selection of artists taking the stage for this moving tribute.
